3. Approve SCC Minutes from 5/16/23 – New Chair (motion John, second Dawn)

 

4. Review of SCC Requirements and Introduction to New Members – New Chair/Principal Scott Jameson

• • Review Bylaws, including review and approval of proposed amendments (motion Pam, second Dawn), Rules of Order, and Website requirements
  • Review District SCC Training and answer questions, if any

1. 1. 1.     There is one day of trainings left at the district office: Wednesday, September 27 (about 1.5 hours long)
      2.    Includes an overview SCC responsibilities

• • Review e-mail imposter warnings

1. 1. 1.     Harvesting emails off the website, posing as admin – DO NOT RESPOND
      2.    District is taking steps to interfere with those emails
      3.     Email addresses will look a little off, might be off by a letter or coming from a different email server

 

5. Approve the 2023-23 Meeting Schedule (3:15-4:30) (motion John, second Rachel) – New Chair

6. School Safety – Principal Scott Jameson

• • Safety drill update

1. 1. 1.     DRILLS: hold, secure, lockdown, evacuate, shelter
      2.    8/28 successful fire drill
      3. 9/13 successful lockdown drill – 3 doors were unlocked, safety reviewed, issues resolved
      4. Law states: hold one drill every month
      5. (Secure) drill scheduled for 10/3

• • Updates on any other school safety issues

1. 1. 1.     New intercom system being used –Telecenter U. The district just approved another system that we will use.
      2.    Waiting for grant approval to get additional keypad installed

7. “Life Skills Support” Update – Principal Scott Jameson

• • “Thrive Time” – canyonsdistrict.org/thrivetime district created morning meeting curriculum. Alta View’s assigned unit for September is “Making Responsible Decisions”. Lessons shared by grade – Kinder has a very different scope and sequence adapted to their age. All other grades have the same topics.
  • Parents can review the curriculum and give feedback
  • The program is not in Spanish YET
  • Updates will be sent through ParentSquare

 

8. Plan Reviews – Principal Scott Jameson

• • Teacher and Student Success Plan (TSSP) – due 11/1

1. 1. 1.     Funds our social worker – Emily Cross

• • Safe Walking Routes – due 11/1

1. 1. 1.     There is a map available online showing safe walking routes to/from school
      2.    Student drop off/pick up map is also available online
      3.  If you see something, say something (painting curbs, sidewalk issues, etc.)

• • School Safety and Digital Citizenship Plan – due 11/1

1. 1. 1.     Christina Hanks – digital citizenship coordinator
      2.    Digital Citizenship Week will be taught to students in October – monthly digital tips shared on ParentSquare and with faculty

• • Positive Behavior Plan – turned in 9/1, does not go through SCC
  • LAND Trust Plan (recap of last year’s goals and expenditures; review 2023-23 plan)
