Welcome/Roll Call – Principal Scott Jameson

Elect 2024-25 Leadership – Principal Scott Jameson

- For SCC Chair: Luisa Whittaker-Brooks was nominated by Rachel Anderson.
Jared Denton seconded. Voting: 10 in favor, 0 opposed, 2 absent.

Approve SCC Minutes from 5/16/24– Luisa Whittaker-Brooks

- Rachel Anderson moved to approve the minutes, second by Jared Denton. SCC minutes from 5/16/24 was unanimously approved by SCC members in the room.

- Review Bylaws, including review and approval of proposed amendments, Rules of Order, and Website requirements

****These are all posted on the Alta View Elementary website and can be found by scrolling down the Community drop box menu and clicking on the School Community Council option.

- All SCC members reviewed their contact information to ensure accuracy. These will be posted on the website.
- All SCC members were reminded about email imposter and potential scam related activities.
***Look for an email that has a small difference than Scott Jameson’s regular school email. These should NOT be accessed and should be reported to the Principal inmediately.

- All SCC members were reminded of the three upcoming SCC Trainings on 9/18, 10/3, and 10/8. All trainings will be held in person in the Canyons Center at the Canyons District Office, 9361 S. 300 East in Sandy. Specific times for all SCC trainings can be found on the website using the following link: https://altaview.canyonsdistrict.org/scc/scc-elections-2/

***3:30 time adjust to accommodate for a later dismissal time this school year.

School Safety – Principal Scott Jameson

- Safety drill update
***First drill: Fire drill completed the second week of school with an evacuation.
***Second drill: lockdown drill took place the week of 9/9. Several miscues were identified such not all doors were locked and not all drapes were down. A third drill will be scheduled to work out the miscues identified.
***Measures for Safety: Building is secured at all times. Volunteers must have a background check. Visitors must sign in and wear a visitor sticker. ***It is worth mentioning that a new app dubbed “Crisis Go” is being rolled out. This tool will be used to make communication during emergencies easier and effective.

- 2024-25 Teacher and Student Success Plan (TSSP)
***Includes a math, reading, and behavior goal.
Funds BLT meetings, social worker, behavior specialists, substitute teachers for parent/teacher conferences.

***Strictly academic goal. Mainly funds reading interventionists.

- Safe Walking Routes

***Required by the state. Four zones around the school that address the safety of Alta View students.

- Positive Behavior Plan

***Items that we do to promote positive interactions. Social worker supports implementing the positive behavior plan.

- School Safety and Digital Citizenship Plan

***Christina Hanks will join us at the next SCC meeting (October 15, 2024) and will provide an informational presentation about our Digital Citizenship Plan.
***SCC members and the public-at-large are encouraged to bring any safety issues to our meetings.
