Wonderful Alta View Parents,
Due to the recent events surrounding COVID-19 and the directives from our Governor and Utah State Board of Education, I wanted to reach out and let you know what to expect over the next two weeks.
School is closed from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 27th. All regular classes, after-school classes, PTA events, IEP meetings, etc. are canceled or postponed for the next two weeks. The state has granted a waiver for these days; they will not have to be made up. At the end of the two weeks, the state will re-evaluate and determine what our next steps will be.
Monday and Tuesday, March 16th and 17th
- Teachers and staff members will be working today and tomorrow to put together a Student Home Learning Plan that you can use with your students over the next two weeks. You will be able to access these materials via the internet by Wednesday. Specific details will be sent out via email by Wednesday morning. Those who cannot access the internet can request a hard copy of the Student Home Learning Plan by calling the office at 801-826-7600 on Monday or Tuesday or by dropping by the school during office hours on Wednesday.
- Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
- Teachers will be unavailable Monday and Tuesday as they will be busy preparing the student learning opportunities and planning how to provide online support to students.
- Families may come to the school to briefly retrieve personal items between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday if needed.
Wednesday, March 18th
- An email will be sent to families by Wednesday morning with information about the Student Home Learning Plan while school is out. Hard copies of the Student Home Learning Plan will be available in the main office during office hours for students who cannot access it online.
- Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Thursday, March 19th through Friday, March 27th
- Teachers will be providing support to students via email and phone.
- Office Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
For students who may not have access to lunch while school is not in session, 15 Canyons District schools have been designated to provide meals. Alta View Elementary is not one of the schools, but our students may go to any school on the list to obtain a grab-and-go lunch. Click here for more information.
Please know how much we will miss your students during the next couple of weeks. We will do our best to provide support remotely. Please call our office if you have any questions at 801-826-7600 or reach out to your child’s teacher via email. Stay safe.
